Our Stained Glass Design Process and Why It’s Not Only Different but Better Too
At Ft Collins Stained Glass, we use a unique process for designing and creating stained glass windows. We combine industry leading technology with hundred year old techniques developed by Scottish glaziers. Why do we do this? We believe that this method allows us to create stained glass windows that not only look beautiful but also withstand the Fort Collins weather as well as the test of time.
Digital Designs, Real Results
We use a unique computer aided process to create all of our stained glass panels. By using a blueprint that’s been perfected by intelligent, high tech software, we can dramatically reduce the chances of defects or mistakes in our products. This allows us to create windows that have an immense amount of intricacy and detail and yet are also solid and practical for home use. Our process usually follows these general steps:
1. Consultation: Before we do anything, we want to gain an understanding of your desires and goals. We visit you onsite to provide you with an in depth, one on one consultation. During this time, we’ll discuss your ideas for the design of your stained glass as well as any concerns you may have.
2. Hand sketch: Next, one of our designers will generate a series of hand sketched drawings for your review. We’ll work closely with you to make sure that you’re satisfied both with the specific details and overall appearance of your stained glass.
3. Computer outline: After the sketch is complete, we use a specialized software that gives us the ability to generate a computer outline of your stained glass. This allows us to perfect measurements and other details with exact precision.
4. Photoshop rendering: Once the outline is complete, we use Photoshop to add colors to the design. We do this so that you can get a complete understanding of what your windows will look like once they’re finished.
5. Final approval: All that’s left is for you to approve the design. We want to make sure that you’re totally satisfied with the look and appearance of your stained glass before we move forward with anything else. If all looks well, we hand off the design to one of our stained glass artisans so they can commence the construction.
