Featured Local Church Stained Glass Restoration Project

Featured Local Church Stained Glass Restoration Project

We’re humbled to announce that we’ve completed our featured local church stained glass project. The Rising Church was built in 1913 in Arvada, CO. Beloved by the community for its incredible homeless outreach, the church housed stunning original stained glass windows. One night after the church had closed, someone walking by had thought they could hear someone or something from inside of the property. They decided to throw rocks through the windows in order to stop the incident. However, no one was inside luckily but the damage had been done.

The Church Stained Glass Restoration for the Rising Church In Arvada

We began with an on-site assessment of the church and found that 90% of the windows had been damaged. These were brought back to our studio in order for proper preservation. We soaked them in our proprietary solution for about two weeks in order to easily take them apart and remove all the dirt and dust from over the last century. New glass from our inventory and custom glass blowing was created for a perfect match of the damaged pieces. We then disposed of all the lead and replaced with new lead for sound structural integrity. The challenge with this project was that many of the windows were missing lead in the first place in order to make them fit the window frames. We resized the windows, reinstalled them, added a protective vented polycarbonate exterior layer, and repainted the exterior framing.
